Mastectomy & Reconstructive Surgery

Choosing to undergo breast reconstruction surgery is a very personal decision, and one that every patient should have the opportunity to consider. Reconstruction helps breast cancer survivors who have undergone mastectomy to restore themselves, completing the physical and emotional healing process.

Because Dr. Sadeghi knows the transformative power of breast reconstruction, he performs only the best microsurgical reconstructive procedures. Personalizing every patient’s care is paramount; Dr. Sadeghi explains each reconstruction option in detail.

Along with providing world-class breast reconstruction surgeries, the Aesthetic & Reconstructive Breast Center also offers patients the option to have their breast reconstruction procedure at the time of mastectomy. Many women decide to have their reconstruction performed simulteously, which removes the need for a second major operation, and means that patients will have just one period of recovery.

As a husband, friend, and a plastic surgeon, I understand that a woman’s breasts influence her self-image and sense of femininity.

Dr. Ali Sadeghi

Patients who have undergone autologous breast reconstruction surgery after a mastectomy say that their new breasts look and feel just like the old ones. By comparison to breast reconstruction with implants, there is usually no need for multiple revisions and future implant replacement surgery when choosing autologous options.

Whenever possible, nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM)—where the nipple and breast skin are preserved during the mastectomy—should be performed. In this case, the aesthetic outcome from the mastectomy, combined with reconstruction, is superior.

Your best option for breast reconstruction surgery is highly dependent upon your body and specific needs. During your consultation, Dr. Sadeghi will discuss the options that are best suited to you. The most popular option used in breast reconstruction is known as the perforator flap breast reconstruction, in which the breasts are rebuilt using existing fatty tissue from another part of your body—usually the abdomen, thighs, or buttock area.

While breast reconstruction patients certainly have options, not all patients are good candidates for each of the procedures listed. Contact us to schedule a visit with Dr. Sadeghi to discuss your options and find the procedure that is right for you.
