What Is Liposuction?
One of the most popular and time-tested cosmetic surgery procedures, liposuction refers to the removal of fat deposits from certain areas of the body. This is an excellent procedure for men and women who have been unable to reduce fat in certain areas of the body such as in the belly, hips, thighs, or buttocks.
Liposuction is not considered a weight-loss procedure. It’s known as a body-contouring procedure, helping patients get rid of stubborn areas of fat that have not been affected by diet and exercise.
World-renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Ali Sadeghi is an expert in liposuction of all types, using the highest-quality tools and most advanced techniques to offer outstanding results to his patients.
Who Can Get Liposuction?
Healthy men and women of a normal weight range are the best candidates for liposuction, as American Society of Plastic Surgery and American Board of Plastic Surgery guidelines limit the amount of fat that can be removed in a single liposuction procedure.

Liposuction can be especially effective when performed in combination with other procedures, such as a tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), breast augmentation, or breast reduction. Combining two cosmetic procedures can have incredible results. See our patient gallery or testimonials for examples.
With every surgical operation he performs, Dr. Sadeghi’s focus is on achieving the best outcome for his patients while offering the safest possible procedure.
Risks of Liposuction
Cosmetic risks of liposuction include bruising, soreness, and irregularities or indentations left in the skin after fat removal. To lower these risks, Dr. Sadeghi uses the smallest possible cannula, or needle, to extract fat.
Other risks of liposuction include general surgical risks, such as effects from anesthesia, and the risk of infection. Before choosing liposuction, you’ll have several opportunities to speak in-depth with Dr. Sadeghi to get answers to any questions you might have.
Recovering From Liposuction
It’s important to follow directions after your liposuction procedure to improve your outcome and reduce swelling, or edema, in the areas treated.
Dr. Sadeghi may prescribe a compression garment to wear over the areas treated. This garment will reduce edema, or fluid swelling, after your procedure, leading to smoother skin texture. Most patients wear a compression garment for up to four weeks after liposuction.
What you eat can have a huge impact on your recovery, especially immediately after your procedure. Dr. Sadeghi recommends a diet low in fat and high in vitamins and protein, including whole grains, fish, and plenty of vegetables. Your body will use these nutrients to heal, repair tissue, and replace fluids so you can get back to your normal routine as soon as possible.
Remember that every patient is different, and it’s possible that you may need a touch-up procedure in four to six months to see your best results.
